Vermont Biographical Sketches

Eliphaz \ Eliphas Perkins b.1753 Norwich, CT d. 1.3.1828 Marietta, Athens Co., Ohio. Son of (John & Lydia (Tracy) Perkins). His wife 1st. LYDIA (FITCH) , 2nd. CATHERINE (GREENE), 3rd. Mrs. ANNA (CANTRON\CALDWELL) CULVER. He was listed on the 1790 VT Census at Leicester, Addison Co., VT. He left his home in CT in 1789 and started for Ohio. He resided for two years in Clarksburg, VA. He practiced medicine in CT and in Vermont until 1799 when he removed to Athens Co., OH in 1800.

His known children were:

The President and Trustees of the Ohio University are are agreeing to rent land to Eliphaz Perkins of Athens, Athens Co., OH for a term of 99 years starting Jan 1st, 1807 at $1.80 per year. Located on Lots #23, #24 & #25 & #26

I find a land sale deed dated 1813 recorded in the Washington Co., OH Deed book. Eliphaz & Catherine Perkins selling land in Washington Co., OH.

I find a land lease/rental agreement dated 11.1.1822 recorded in the Athens Co., OH Deeds 1833-1836 Book. The President and Trustees of the Ohio University are are agreeing to rent land to Eliphaz Perkins of Athens, Athens Co., OH for a term of 99 years starting starting Jan. 1st, 1821 at $5.34 per year. Located on Lots #92 & #93

In 1824 find him paying taxes at Athens Co., OH with his sons Chancy\Chauncy F. Perkins & Eliphaz Perkins Jr.

I find a land division deed dated 10.29.1830 recorded in the Athens Co., OH Deeds 1826-1832 Book. The heirs at law of Dr. Eliphaz Perkins (deceased) are dividing up the land leased to their father by the Trustees of the Ohio University.

I find land sale deed dated 6.1.1836 recorded in the Athens Co., OH Deeds 1838-1839 Book. The heirs at law of Dr. Eliphaz Perkins (deceased) are selling off the land of their father to Harvey R. Gillmore of Athens Co., OH for $1050.00. Located on the South half of Lot #26 in the town of Athens, Athens Co., OH

Ignatious/Ignatius Perkins b. ca.1765/1768 CT d.1833 Manchester, Hartford Co., CT. His wife m.1789 in CT; HANNAH (RUSSELL). They came from Middlesex Co., MA to Cavendish, Windsor Co., VT. They followed her brother, Noadiah Russell to Cavendish, Windsor Co., VT. They didn't stay long as they are not enumerated on the 1800 Windsor Co., VT Census. They removed to Hartford Co., CT.

Their known children were:
