| Luke Perkins b.1786 Canada ? d.
8.17.1844 Dryden, Lapeer Co., WI. His
wife ALMA (SPENCER) b.1794VT. He arrived in
Michigan about 1835 from Clark
Township, Durham, New Castle, Ontario, Canada. His first land purchase was on
5/1/1837, Township/Range 006 North-011 East, Section 1, NW 1/4, Lapeer Co.,
MI. They are listed on the 1840 Census in Dryden, Lapeer
Co., MI. Luke Perkins and his brother Benjamin
L. Perkins and sister Mary Perkins who m.
Daniel Spencer, a brother of Alma (Spencer) Perkins, came to Michigan with Luke. Luke Perkins was a pioneer
of Lapeer Co., MI. He died there in 1844 and is buried in the North Dryden Cemetery.

I find a land purchase deed dated
9.26.1835 recorded in the Durham. Deeds March 1834-Decemeber 1836 Book.
George Ball of the township of Niagara, Lincoln Co., Providence of
Upper Canada is selling land to Luke Perkins of Clark, Durham Co.,
District of New Castle, Providence of Upper Canada for 50 pounds. A parcel
of land containing 100 acres, the south half of Lot #29 in the 4th
concession, located in Clark township, Durham Co., District of New
Castle, Providence of Upper Canada
I find a land sale deed dated 9.30.1835
recorded in the Durham. Deeds Marcy
1834-Decemeber 1836 Book. Luke & Alma Perkins are selling the same
100 acre parcel of land they purchased (above) from George Ball to
Herbert Renneck for 555 pounds.
I find a land decree dated 3.17.1849 recorded in the Lapeer,
MI Probate Estate Case Files 1852-1870 Book. Cyrus Spencer contacted
The Probate Office of the State of Michigan to report that Luke
Perkins did sell him 30 acres of the land at Dryden, Lapeer Co., MI but
that he (Luke Perkins) had died before the deed was made and that he has no
deed for the said land he purchased.
I find a land sale decree dated 3.23.1849 recorded in the
Lapeer, MI Probate Estate Case Files 1852-1870 Book. The Probate Office
of the State of Michigan is agreeing that Luke Perkins was
planning to sell *John Perkins, 40 acres of land at Dryden, Lapeer
Co., MI
prior to his death. *Note* I found the official sale/purchase
deed dated 4.9.1849 recorded in the Lapeer Co., MI Deeds 1867-1868
Book showing John Perkins paid $300.00 for the land to Seth Hall, the
administrator of estate of Luke Perkins (deceased)
I find a land sale deed dated 9.8.1849 recorded in the Lapeer,
MI Deeds 1846-1849 Book. Seth Hall, administrator of the estate of
Luke Perkins of Lapeer Co., MI (deceased) to William Fletcher for $100.
The parcel of land belonging to Luke Perkins (deceased), being 10 acres
taken from the SW part of the NW 1/4 section #1, township #6, North of Range
11 East, commencing at a stake on the West section line of said SW 1,
adjoining lands set off to *Cyrus Perkins, running North along said section
line, 6 chains and 85 links to a stake, thence East by land set off to
*Esther Starmer, 14 chains and 68 links to a stake, thence South by lands
set off to *Lucinda Howard, 6 chains and 85 links to a stake thence West by
lands set off to Cyrus Perkins, 14 chains and 68 links to the place of
beginning.
I find a 2nd land sale dated 9.25.1849 recorded in the Lapeer,
MI Deeds 1846-1849 Book. Seth Hall, administrator of the estate of
Luke Perkins of Lapeer Co., MI (deceased) to *Benjamin Perkins.

the 1840 MI Census in Metamora, Lapeer Co., MI the 1850 Census at Brandon,
Oakland Co., MI and in 1860 &
1870 they resided in Tuscola Co., MI. In
1880 they resided at Harrison, Clare Co., MI. In 1880 he tells the census
worker that his father was born in N.H. and his mother in CT. In
1900 his widow Margaret A. Perkins is living at Evart, Osceola Co., MI. Their known children
w/1st wife were:

do they relate>?)
*Note* It has been suggested that
Amanda (Parker) Perkins was the step-daughter of
Lucy Perkins who married Lyman
Parker. Lucy Perkins was a sister of
Waterman Perkins of Owasso,
Shiawassee Co., MI. In 1860 & 1870 they resided in Tuscola Co., MI. *More research is needed*

land purchase in Township/Range 012 East-008 East, Section 32, N 1/2 NW
1/4, Tuscola Co., MI and another on 5/2/1859 in Township/Range
012 North-008 East, Section 32, S 1/2 NW 1/4 in Tuscola Co., MI. |

Hiram Perkins m. Harriet (McNames)
and this same record states that
Harris Perkins m. Elizabeth (Dale).
When looking at the 1851 & 1861 Canadian Census
Records - Harris Perkins is listed with a wife named "Harriet" b.1816
Canada.
**Conclusion** Either there were two woman by the name of
Harriet McNames with one marrying Hiram Perkins and the other
marrying Harris Perkins or there was one Harriet McNames who was
married to both.

(McNames) of Middlesex Co., Canada. Given her birth year, her mother
was probably Elizabeth (Dale) and she grew up thinking Harriet
McNames was her mother.

fathers name was "unknown" and his mother
name was Elizabeth (Dale).
c.Rachael (Perkins) Congdon's brother or 1/2 brother,

Record states that his father was Harris Perkins and his mothers
name was "unknown".
d.Rachael (Perkins) Congdon resided at Evart, Osceola Co., MI
and is buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery - Evart, Osceola Co., MI which
is the same Cemetery where Norman W. Perkins
